A ‘leap of faith’ for Year 8 in Activities Week

Posted In General

Activities Week got off to a flying start for Year 8 as they spent their first three days at Grosvenor Hall in Ashford. Whilst they were on site the pupils participated in ‘The Zip Line’, abseiling and the awesome 3G Swing. The action-packed three days demonstrated their fearless attitude with many pupils climbing up to fifty feet on the “leap of faith”. Amidst the fun being had, pupils developed their leadership, communication and problem solving skills in the activities undertaken. The three day getaway concluded with everyone taking part in the “power fan” – a sixty foot pillar the pupils had to climb and then free fall from.

Once the Year 8s had completed their activities in Ashford they moved to beautiful Bewl Water for water-based learning opportunities. The focus for the morning was building confidence in the water with canoeing. The gorgeous weather provided Year 8 with time to play games, work on their steering skills and learn to keep the canoe afloat. Some pupils were more successful than others! The afternoon saw the Year 8s undertake raft building with communication and questioning skills key for the two teams to stay afloat. The week was a real success and we look forward to next year!
