Year 13 get musical in London

Our Year 13 Music Performance pupils were given an incredible opportunity recently to attend an unforgettable music event at Kentish Town Forum in London. As part of their standout set from Equinox Festival a few weeks ago, the pupils performed a cover of a song by an American band named Against the Current. The pupils were absolutely delighted to then be able to head to London as a group to watch Against the Current perform this very song back to them as part of the European leg of their latest album tour.

As well as the gig in the evening, the pupils were treated to an afternoon tour full of historical musical culture through Camden Town. Highlights included a visit to the world-famous Camden Market, a live-music experience in an outdoor music venue, as well as a visit to the Amy Winehouse statue in Stables Market. This experience ended with the pupils having dinner together in one of the many food markets of Camden before making their way to Kentish Town for the gig.

The pupils were in absolute awe throughout the entire show and not only enjoyed the incredible headline set by Against the Current, but were also introduced to an amazing support act called The Faim who had travelled all the way from Australia to play the show. The pupils were even lucky enough to meet the lead singer of The Faim after the gig and received some quality advice regarding stage presence and how to “make it your own” when performing on stage. Year 13 pupil, Natalie Whyte, said: “We all had the best day and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”
