We are justifiably proud of our sporting reputation
We run a full and high-quality fixture list and regularly achieve success against much larger schools. With a whole-school Games afternoon each week, at least two Games lessons a week for all pupils, team practices and sports sessions during ‘Activities’, there are plenty of opportunities to be involved in Sport on a regular basis. All members of the Sixth Form participate in Body for Life, a structured health and fitness programme.

Pupils looking to try something new are also well catered for. There are with opportunities to try sports such as squash, gymnastics, basketball, swimming, climbing, high ropes and martial arts on site, as well as easy access to local facilities as required.

Pupils have the opportunity to compete for the School in regular fixtures; not only in the major team games but also in individual or small team sports. Our staff are specialists, teaching the sports that they are passionate about and offering professional-level coaching for pupils at the top of their game.

The passion of our Sports teachers has allowed the department to evolve far beyond expectations for a school of Bethany’s size. We offer traditional sports such as football, rugby, tennis, cricket, hockey, rounders and netball and perform well in all.

The sports facilities at Bethany are extensive and ever-growing. Recent additions include an award-winning 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool, and a state-of-the-art Fitness Suite. Pupils have access to these facilities in both lesson and leisure time, encouraging healthy lifestyles and a passion for sports.

Sport scholarships are available at Bethany, for Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 pupils – please contact the Registrar if you would like more details.

We are proud supporters of the Tunbridge Wells Rugby Club, sponsoring two of the teams and we also have a close affiliation with Paris Saint-Germain Academy.

There is plenty of opportunity to attend one of our sports tours or skiing trips.  In previous years we have taken trips to Malta, Holland, Valencia and Barcelona, and we are currently planning to travel to Barbados and Australia.

“From a quiet, unsure and reserved boy, Jack has progressed through school to success in GCSEs, rugby tours and 1st XV rugby. His confidence has grown immeasurably and we look forward positively to his next steps leaving home for university.”
