Sixth Form pupils’ band perform live debut

On Thursday 22nd March, pupils and staff were treated to a night of music and camaraderie as our Year 12 BTEC Music pupils performed an intimate gig for friends and family.

Held at The George Inn in Wadhurst, the pupils played a host of songs including a Sam Smith cover of ‘Too Good at Goodbyes’ and ‘Mr Brightside’ – a classic from The Killers.

The purpose of the evening was for the Year 12 pupils to complete their BTEC Level Three unit ‘Working and Developing as a Musical Ensemble’. This requires them to work as a band and to choose, rehearse and develop a set of songs to perform to a live audience.

Head of Music, Jonny Brinson, said: “I was extremely pleased and proud of what they managed to achieve; their professionalism absolutely blew me away. I joined Bethany School in January and I am really enjoying working with our incredibly talented pupils and making the Music Department the best that it can possibly be. Evenings like this are just the beginning of my vision and look forward to seeing many more pupils sharing their musical talents through similar activities in the future.”
