Project-based learning: Year 7 pupils make it through the Crystal Maze

Posted In Academic

Year 7 pupils have embarked on project-based learning for the second time this academic year which was given a Crystal Maze theme. Pupils were organised into groups of five to six and were challenged to develop their team working skills.

The Year 7s were set eight different tasks managed between four zones: physical, mental, skill and mystery where they had to work together against the clock to earn crystals and time in the dome at the end of the day.

Emily Hill, Assistant Academic Head, said: “This was another successful project-based learning challenge for our Year 7s, they all loved it. They found some tasks harder than others but the general feeling was that they had done a great job of working together in their teams.”

Some pupils commented: “I’m stronger than I thought if I believe in myself,” and “I have learnt that if I don’t give up too easily I could eventually come up with an idea which could work.”

Further projects are planned for both Year 7 and 8 in the next academic year.
