The fair had two elements:
- Three keynote speakers gave speeches in the Function Suite where pupils had the opportunity to listen to industry professionals providing relevant advice concerning careers choices. This year’s speakers
o Stephen Hoad, Former Commodities Trader and CEO of The Stop Hunter – who gave a talk on his road to a career in the financial markets.
o Jane Burtenshaw of Kato Training, a leading Apprenticeship co-ordinator in Kent – who gave a talk on the world of opportunities that apprenticeships provide.
o Charlotte Welsby of the new Kent and Medway Medical School which is opening September 2020 – who gave a talk on the path to medical related careers.
2. A Careers Fair in the Assembly Hall where 26 vendors from all walks of life inspired the pupils. We had stalls representing the NHS, Barclays, the Army, Kent Police, Specsavers, UCA, the University of Portsmouth and many many more!
Although the target market for the event were Years 11, 12 and 13, it was wonderful to see so many Year 7/8/9/10s at the afternoon break slot for it is never too early to start thinking about careers! All vendors were hugely complimentary as to how well our pupils interacted and networked during the event which was a delight to hear!
Mr Duff is already busy planning next year’s event and would love to welcome even more Parents to the ‘after school slot’ so they can feel more informed to the world of opportunities out there for your child’s career path.
