Date you joined the School:
November 2019.

What do you do at Bethany?
I am here to develop and deliver the Mandarin curriculum.

What did you do before you came to Bethany?
I was Head of MFL teaching Mandarin and French, and led on Mandarin Excellence Programme as well as Confucius Classroom in East Sussex.

What is your favourite novel/music/artist/film and why?
It is no longer easy to name a favourite. I suppose the kind that makes me laugh, cry, learn and come back for more.

What is your favourite quotation and why?
‘Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.’ I think being nice and respectful is a true reflection of education.

What was your favourite subject at School and why?
Maths (also, my least favourite). I got 29 out of 150 in my first A-level mock, but I achieved 129/150 in my real exam. It makes me realise that efforts count more than talent.

Why do you like working at Bethany?
Openness to the ever-changing world; Adopting a pupil-centred approach; Home feeling with trust and opportunities.

What interests do you have outside Bethany?
I was once trained to be an event host. I am also a qualified Exercise to Music instructor now, certified with Les Mills.

What is your favourite childhood memory?
Teaching my grandparents English. Setting them homework and detentions.

What is your favourite colour and why?
Black. It’s a mixture of mystery, strength, authority, elegance, formality, rebellion, and sophistication.

If you were not doing what you are doing now, what would you like to do?
Still in education – somewhere in the world.
