The new Bethany boarders arrived for their induction prior to the start of term and the opportunity to tour the School and familiarise themselves with the campus before the mad rush of a new term is a great benefit. As a reward to those who carried out tests in the day, a trip to a local restaurant in the evening gave the group time to get to know each other and start to make all important friendships.
On the Saturday the group went to Hastings, on the English Channel, after visiting Battle (the historic site of the 1066 battle following the Norman invasion of England). The group enjoyed the events in and around the town with some taking part in a ‘Bake Off’ competition on the sea front. On return to Bethany the group split up into teams to prepare their own evening meal under the supervision of the boarding staff.
Sunday quickly arrived and after packing to move to their own boarding houses the group had a substantial brunch before setting off for Tunbridge Wells, a town they will visit regularly in the year to come. They had challenges to complete in the town to help them to orientate themselves for future trip. On returning to School they all found their luggage moved to their boarding house and were soon joined by the returning boarders ready for the start of school on Monday morning.
The induction was very successful with the new boarders meeting all the boarding team and having an opportunity to get settled before the start of term.
