Help bring Science to life for a unique school and community

40 weeks per year, Up to £23,000 + Benefits

Bethany isn’t just a school, providing an exceptional education to 360 pupils aged 11-18: it’s a unique community and registered charity, set in 60 acres of the magnificent Weald in the heart of the Kent countryside. Our exceptional results and enviable reputation mean we are growing rapidly, with new facilities including an indoor swimming pool, an extension to the sixth form building and a dedicated fitness centre – so this is a remarkable place to build your career.

In this key position, you will help to bring our Science curriculum to life and fire the enthusiasm of pupils of all ages and abilities. You can expect wide-ranging responsibilities as you prepare experiments, service equipment, order consumables, and maintain our five laboratories and ancillary rooms. Above all, you will provide comprehensive support to our Chemistry, Physics and Biology teachers, so we need someone with a very flexible approach and real hunger for responsibility.

Already an experienced Science Technician, you will be well versed in health and safety procedures (including COSHH and CLEAPSS), knowledgeable regarding PAT and radioactive material testing, and capable of constructing complex apparatus. At the same time, you should be extremely organised and methodical, with proven ability to maintain detailed records, deal with suppliers and interact with pupils, and you will be keen to progress within the school.

In return, you can expect an exceptional package of rewards including a pension scheme with 10% employer contribution, Benenden Health Care, free lunches during terms, free parking and use of our Olympic-sized swimming pool and gymnasium.

The closing date for applications is midday on Monday 24 January 2022

As part of your role, you will be required to adhere to all School Policies, to include but not be limited to Safeguarding and Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Health & Safety as well as the continual promotion and safeguarding of the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.  All applicants must be willing to undergo enhanced child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

These appointments will be made without regard to gender, age, or ethnic origin. Bethany School is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
