U13 Girls Hockey
The U13 girls squad have made a great start to their hockey term. Considering many of the girls had never picked up a hockey stick before, they are making excellent progress and they should be very proud of their achievements.
The young girls have played competitive games against Marlborough House, Buckswood School and Dover College. Special mention should go to Niamh Davies, Delilah Hutchings, Ruby Russell, Josie Tabb, Frances Lye and Beth Kuhepa, who have made considerable improvement and contribution.
1st XI vs King’s Rochester
On Thursday 28th September the Senior Hockey team played against King’s Rochester. This was a brilliant game where Bethany led in the first half, 1-0. This goal was driven up the right wing by Georgia Lello, set up by Jemima Bischoff for Claire Day to slot the ball past the keeper. Unfortunately, King’s then came back out with a fighting determination and scored two goals in close succession.
Player of the match went to Jemima Bischoff with Lorenza Dougan picking up Coach’s Player for some excellent saves.
Final Score: 2-1 to King’s
U15 vs Buckswood
On Tuesday 3rd October, U15 Hockey played against Buckswood. With a few key players missing, we achieved our aim of keeping our formation and spacing. However, Buckswood took advantage of us standing off the ball while in defence, and scored before half time. They then capitalised on this in the second half by scoring again.
At 2-0 our heads went down and we conceded two more goals. Nevertheless, the girls did not give up and nearly scored in the closing minutes of the game.
Final Score: 4-0 to Buckswood
1st XI vs Buckswood
On Thursday 5th October, this proved to be a tough game, as Buckswood fielded a number of Dutch players who were extremely talented both on and off the ball. Nevertheless, the squad played significantly better tactically and improved on several aspects from previous games.
We were unlucky to not score and the final outcome did not reflect the hard work and determination demonstrated by the Bethany team.
Final score 5-0 to Buckswood
Player of the match: Sarah Exall
