Date you joined the School
December 2014

What do you do at Bethany?
I teach Food Nutrition & Science across the School and I am a form tutor for Old Poplars. I also run the Chef School Activity.

What did you do before you came to Bethany?
I was an NVQ assessor in Catering and Hospitality and before that I ran my own pub/restaurant.

What is your favourite novel/music/artist/film and why?
Phantom of the Opera. It has always struck a chord with me ever since I first became aware of the story when I was about 11. I’ve seen almost every film version (the Charles Dance version was the best, followed by Gerard Butler in the musical). I know every word of the musical and I’ve read practically every spin-off book too. I think it would be my Mastermind subject!

What is your favourite quotation and why?
I don’t have a favourite quotation as such, but at times, random lyrics from musicals just pop into my head!  A little bit daft but it leaves me humming tunes all day long!

What was your favourite subject at School and why?
Textiles (Food Science wasn’t an option back then).  I studied Textiles because I wanted to become a costumier.  My degree is in Costume Production.

Why do you like working at Bethany?
It is a lovely, personal environment and a welcoming community.

What interests do you have outside Bethany?
I am a qualified Zumba and FitSteps instructor and I teach a number of classes a week.  I also like being dragged to Bluewater by my daughter, cooking, reading and planning my next holiday to France.

What is your favourite childhood memory?
The first time my mum took me to London to the theatre – the magic just took hold of me and I was hooked!

What is your favourite colour and why?
Purple, because it relaxes me.

If you were not doing what you are doing now, what would you like to do?
I would be living in the Charente region of France either running a restaurant, cookery school or a soft furnishing business.  Or making ballet Tutus at the opera house in Paris….  Living the Dream!
