Mrs Kate Harper, BSc (Hons) QTS PGCert SpLD Head of Learning Support, Specialist Teacher/Entrance Assessments
Date you joined the School
September 2011
What do you do at Bethany?
I am Head of The Learning Support department (DLS) and SENCO for the School. I am a tutor in The Mount.
Other responsibilities?
Exam Concessions and Entrance Assessments.
What did you do before you came to Bethany?
I was SENCO at a local state school.
What is your favourite quotation and why?
Suck it and see – because I think you should probably give most things a try.
What was your favourite subject at School and why?
Geography because we did lots of trips and the teacher was funny. I went on to do a Geography degree so I wonder if this was an influence.
What interests do you have outside Bethany?
We have a smallholding with sheep and chickens so that keeps me busy most of the time. I have two horses and ride them as much as possible. We are renovating our house so I’m often very dusty at the weekends.
Who is your hero/heroine and why?
My dad. He was on the team who invented the first super computer. He was a Professor of Electronic Engineering and had the most incredible mind.
What is your favourite colour and why?
Green because it means it’s finally spring time – not so much mud!
