Julie McCollum, Bursary Assistant
Date you joined the School?
What do you do at Bethany?
I work in the Bursary, helping with everything to do with finance.
What is your favourite novel/music/artist/film and why?
I like to read Historical Fiction. It’s difficult to choose a favourite but I enjoyed reading ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. As always, the book is much better than the film!
What is your favourite quotation and why?
‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.’
I like this quote because it’s such sensible advice.
What was your favourite subject at School and why?
I didn’t really have a favourite subject but I did have a favourite teacher. Mrs Beaston, she taught me Maths and Commercial Studies, she was passionate and inspirational.
Why do you like working at Bethany?
It’s great to be part of a happy, friendly team.
What interests do you outside Bethany?
I have a Havanese, called Alfie, and we enjoy going on walks in the woods. I also love all things ‘crafty’, especially painting and sewing.
What is your favourite childhood memory?
Nanna’s Sunday roast dinners! They were amazing.
What is your favourite colour and why?
Purple. It’s a cheerful colour and I like all the different shades.
If you were not doing what you are doing now, what would you like to do?
Travel. There are still many countries I would like to visit.
