First match of the season victory for Bethany football

Posted In Sport

Bethany travelled to Bede’s School on Tuesday for their first match of the season. Having narrowly lost a couple of cup matches before Christmas, the team were determined to play to their potential.

An excellent first half resulted in dominant possession and number of well-worked chances but Bede’s stood strong and defended well. The second half began in the same manner and the first goal was slotted home by captain Jake Fuggle to break the deadlock. A superb 25-yard strike into the top corner by Dan Akowe soon followed.

Leo Olujobi continued to dominate down the left-hand side of the pitch and his excellent run resulted in a penalty which was well taken by Jake to provide a third goal. Will Harby finished the match with a back-post header from a Miquel Bosch cross making it a 4-0 victory.

An excellent performance by all with special mentions going to Theo Von Halasz and Ethan Hill.

Man of the match:

Leo Olujobi.
