Chinese workshop

Posted In Academic

Earlier this term, two tutors – Alex and Hi from The Meridian Society – led a workshop about the Chinese Labour Corps in World War l for Year 9 and some of our Year 8 Mandarin pupils.

Raphael wrote a letter home as a Chinese labourer in WWI; Dan presented his work to the class; Archie, Oscar, Guy and Jake performed a play in English with depth; and Will, Katelyn, Felix and Archie acted out a short play in Mandarin.

Dorothy Li, Teacher of Mandarin, said: “The workshop was an exciting opportunity for our young pupils to learn a period of history that brings China and Britain together. Alex and Hi were particularly impressed by the creativity of Year 9 and would like to come back to Bethany for a further session”.
