On Friday 1st December 2017, Bethany School will host a Charity Ball for Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils in the School Assembly Hall. All are welcome to attend, and entrance is by ticket only which costs £10. These are available from the School Office for cash, or alternatively the cost can be placed onto your child’s School bill.
The original suggestion for the Ball came from a Year 8 pupil Lily O’Donnell Hughes who felt compelled to try and help two charities which helped her brother and we are delighted to support her in this endeavour. The Ball has been organised to fundraise for the charities Kent Air Ambulance and the Children’s Trust. Both these charities helped support Lily’s brother Jonty, during his difficult time following a devastating car crash last year. This left him severely injured with head injuries which resulted in him being in a coma for weeks. The Kent Air Ambulance airlifted him to St George’s Hospital, London. After showing signs of improvement, described by some doctors as a miraculous recovery, Jonty was discharged to the Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey and spent three months there receiving excellent help and care to aid his recovery.
The Ball will start at 7pm, and finish at 9:30pm. Those attending are welcome to bring friends from outside Bethany, however they will also be required to buy a ticket. Bethany pupils attending can have supper at School from 5:45pm, allowing them time to change in their boarding houses. The dress code is smart, and while optional everyone is encouraged to dress up. There will be prizes for the best dressed attendees.
Refreshments and snacks will be available at the Ball. Donations from parents would be greatly appreciated, any drinks (non-alcoholic of course) such as; coke, lemonade, etc., or snacks such as sweets and crisps or alternatively, cash donations which will enable us to purchase the necessary refreshments. Donations should be taken to the School Office. Also, any parents who would be willing to offer their time for some or all of the evening to help supervise and distribute refreshments would also be greatly appreciated.
Furthermore, Friday 1st December will be a red themed day for the whole School, where a donation of £2 should be made to wear red clothes for the day. This will be in honour and memory of Connor aged 5, whom Jonty met at the Children’s Trust, who sadly passed away unexpectedly on 16th May 2017. Once again, all monies raised will be equally divided between both charities.
We appreciate that this is a busy time of year, but are hoping to see as many of your children as possible at the Ball to help make the event a success. It promises to be a fun evening!
Please reply by email to Miss Neale at the School Office if you wish your child to attend this wonderful event, confirming whether you wish the charge to be put on the School bill or to be paid in cash at the School Office.
