On the evening of Thursday 11th October Central performed live at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells for the first time. Central, made up of Year 13 pupils Abbie Bristow, James Clarke, Warwick Crewe-Brown and Natalie Whyte have been together since the beginning of Sixth Form and following the success of Equinox Festival, the band needed a new challenge to overcome. The Forum is a venue for comedy nights, raves but most importantly intimate gigs for upcoming bands, particularly for 16-18-year-olds to perform and watch.
This was the first time Central had performed in this kind of setting but they had the support of family, staff and fellow pupils in the crowd to cheer them on. Jonny Brinson, Head of Music, explained how immensely proud he was of the band. He said: “We’re desperate to give our pupils as many of these real-life opportunities for them as possible so that we’re successfully preparing them for the real world after School.
“I’m just so pleased with the outcome of the event and the buzz they felt afterwards. Experiences like this are just the beginning as we hope to have as many of these opportunities as we can.”
