Bethany 1st XI cricketers win first match of the season

The 1st XI cricket team travelled to Dover College to begin their busy fixture programme for this half term. Under blue skies at Dover, Bethany opened in the field with Dover electing to bat first.

The bowling attack of Joe Brinton, Johnny Davies, Captain Ed Harby, Jake Blane and debutant Theo Von Halasz soon had the Dover players batting on the back foot and struggling to score runs.

Theo Von Halasz was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets and he was very unlucky when a spilt catch in the slips prevented him from taking a hat trick of wickets on his debut.

Dover college were bowled out for 43 runs off 11 overs. Bethany set about the total with crucial batting from Ed Harby and Harry Morgan in their innings.

Both players scored a number of boundaries and chased down the score inside five overs to gain the win for the first outing of the season.
