The second task in this year’s Apprentice Challenge was to ‘Grow Your Money’. Candidates were given £10 before half term and asked to turn that into the biggest sum they could using any means available. The target was to beat last year’s £1100, which was a really difficult challenge given that there were only nine candidates this year.
An impressive array of money-making methods were employed, from dog-walking to flower selling to a raffle. When the dust settled, the amazing sum of £1287 had been raised by seven candidates. Two of the candidates fired themselves by taking no part in the challenge. In the week’s official firing, Lord Sugar fired Rachel, whose total of £68 simply wasn’t impressive enough.
There is now a week’s hiatus whilst the mock examinations take place, but the remaining three challenges will come thick and fast starting on Monday 18th June.
