Yesterday evening, the Headmaster and Mrs Healy were delighted to host the boarders from all of the boarding houses for the annual Summer Term Barbecue. The weather was superb, the food was delicious and the promise of a Magnum ice-cream at the end was fulfilled.
At a time when so many of our pupils are studying for their GCSE and A level examinations, it seemed an appropriate time to have a few moments in the evening sun to enjoy simple pleasures which included: high jinks on the trampoline, searching for a lost frisbee, playing cards on the grass, kicking a jumbo-sized beech ball (until it burst!) and a casual game of football.
Some pupils simply didn’t want the evening to end and stayed behind to help tidy the garden and have a little more relaxation in the lie-back chairs! A parting comment made by a junior boarder summed-up the atmosphere very well, ‘Sir, we should have this event every Thursday!’
