As we all know, most of our schools are now closed until further notice and most of the cooking is being done at home, as well as schooling.
So, the Food, Nutrition and Sustainability Team at Holroyd Howe have designed a new concept called “The Home School Bistro” aimed to be a fun, interactive one-stop-shop for ideas on food incorporating:
- 2-week ‘pick and choose’ menu plan
- Recipes for breakfast, snacks, lunch & supper with, sustainability and nutrition, educational messages
- Educational resources and activities to encourage families to eat healthily and live sustainably
- Top tips (including health and safety)
- Family challenges
- Home School Bistro Tuckshop
The Home School Bistro provides curriculum based educational resources and activities for children to complete. From learning about food waste and recycling that features in many science-based subjects, to understanding the importance of a healthy balanced diet in PSHE. The Home School Bistro offers ideas and different ways to learn and have fun at the same time!
Going forward we will also be releasing educational videos onto our YouTube channel for parents and pupils to access. These will sit side by side with the menus and recipes and bring them to life.
All the documents are in easy to use, electronic formats, which can be shared with our clients and subsequently with parents. The first phase (available below) includes, the menu plan, recipes, family challenges and top tips. We will then look to share the second phase of the pack, after the Easter holiday, which will include – family challenges part 2, online videos (via You Tube), and educational resources.
