This year's Masterchef final took place on 20th June, in time for the winner to be presented with their trophy on Speech Day. Once again, the quality of the dishes produced surpassed expectation.

The winning dishes

The three finalists were Kirsten Enticknap from Year 9 and Catherine Snow and Felix Brown from Year 8. Their brief was to prepare two dishes for the annual Competitors' Gala Evening menu organised by the All England Tennis Club at the end of the Wimbledon tournament, to include one savoury and one sweet dish.

Our guest judge was Chris Bower, Head Chef at Thackery's in Tunbridge Wells who can be seen here, together with fellow judge, Mr Dorey, tasting Kirsten's dishes. Her menu was rack of Lamb with pineapple salsa, asparagus & new potatoes, followed by: Baked chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis, fresh raspberries & strawberries and querelle of cream.
Catherine's menu was black pepper beef fillet with caramelized onions and blue cheese salad, followed by Kentish strawberry tart with madeira.
Felix's menu was pan fried salmon with honey & soy sauce with roasted vegetables, followed by Victoria sponge with dairy cream and strawberries.

After much deliberation Kirsten was declared the winner (her dishes are pictured at the top of the page). The three finalists are pictured with t-shirts and Kirsten was presented with the Bethany Masterchef trophy on Speech Day. Chris Bower complimented all three finalists on their calm and thorough approach and doubted whether he would have been able to produce dishes of such high quality at the same age. Mrs Wood thanked both judges for giving up their time to support the event.
