This year's Master Chef final took place on 16th June and for the first time was an all-boy final, two from Year 7 and one from Year 8. The guest judges, pictured here with the finalists were Neil McCue, the Head Chef from The Curlew in Bodiam (back left) and Gary Parker, the School's catering manager (back right).

The young chefs' task was to design and make a two course lunch to be served at a local National Trust property to celebrate the visit of a VIP - the recently appointment member of parliament for this area.
The dishes produced included: salmon and seaweed with a creme fraiche and dill sauce served in a crisp pastry shell, rack of new season Welsh lamb, summer duck salad, Kentish asparagus tart, raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake.
The chefs were judged on four elements: the quality of their food, organisation and hygiene, timing and presentation.
Before announcing the winner, the judges complimented the chefs on how calmly they had all worked and on the quality of the dishes they had produced. They were particularly impressed that all the chefs had chosen seasonal produce.

.... and the winner was .... Jamie MacAskill from Year 7. He had made fresh Kentish Asparagus Tart served with a salad of locally grown broad beans, cherry tomatoes and pine nuts with a honey and mustard dressing, followed by a chocolate brownie with Kentish strawberries, served with a white chocolate sauce. Many congratulation to Jamie, who will be presented with the Bethany Master Chef trophy on Speech Day, and to Luke and Elliot, the runners up. Many thanks to the judges for giving up their time.
