Business in New York

During February half term 27 sixth form Business Studies students, together with three members of staff, left a cold Gatwick en route to an even colder New York.

During their four day stay they packed in a huge variety of visits.  On the educational front a real highlight was the sight of over 100 billion dollars worth of gold bars n the Federal Reserve Bank.  There were tours of Wall Street, Macy's Department Store and the Brooklyn Brewery.

Everyone enjoyed the view from the top of Empire State building and the sight of the Statue of Liberty from the Statin Island Ferry.  They took in a Broadway show, the Phantom of the Opera, and also went to a New York Knicks' basketball game in Madison Square Garden, which was quite an experience!

On a more sombre note the group visited Ground Zero and talked to a fireman who was actually involved in the 9/11 rescue operation.

They also found some friendly New York policemen who were happy to be photographed!

The staff enjoyed themselves tremendously too.  Highlights included Mr Thorpe being embraced by a Statue of Liberty mime artist and Mrs Digby's discovery of the M & M's shop in Times Square.

The question now is ... where will the next trip be to?
