On 13
th February, 19 Art, Photography and Textiles students set off on a four day trip to Amsterdam to produce work to support their various coursework projects. A busy itinerary saw the group visit the Rijksmuseum, home of Rembrandt's ‘The Night Watch' and the Van Gogh Museum which included a tour of the stunning ‘Colours of the Night' exhibition. The work of American portrait photographer Richard Avedon was enjoyed at the FOAM gallery and the Tropenmuseum gave pupils the chance to journey through the cultural history of the country. A canal boat trip proved a good way to see the sights of the city and we visited Anne Frank's House on the day Miep Gies celebrated her 100
th birthday (the woman who discovered Anne's diaries shortly after the Nazis discovered the family's hiding place). Our pupils signed a book that was to be presented to her the next day to mark the occasion.
This important first hand experience will add to the overall quality of the work of the students and the whole party, adults and pupils enjoyed every aspect of the tour.
