About Bethany School : Curriculum
Geography

_comm2.jpg

Welcome to the Geography Department.  Our aim is to provide a high quality and enjoyable geographical education through stimulating learning activities.  We also fully utilise ICT and high quality fieldwork experiences as effective learning tools.

_comm1.jpg
The majority of teaching in the department is shared between two specialists, Garry Simmons (Head of Department) and Chris Fisher (Director of Teaching and Learning), with Robert Briggs ably teaching a year 7 class.  We are located in the Holmes Building, a purpose built teaching block opened in 2003.

Geography is a compulsory subject in Years 7 to 9 and is a very popular GCSE option, usually chosen by half of the year group. At A Level classes are smaller and students benefit from an improved teacher: pupil ratio.  The department has been very successful academically and has achieved excellent GCSE and A Level results.

For detailed information about GCSE Geography please click here.

For detailed information about A level Geography please go to the Sixth Form curriculum page.

The department is one of the best equipped Geography departments in the South East.  The department boasts two spacious classrooms and a sixth form resource base.  We have a wide range of fieldwork equipment, text books, journals and electronic resources as well as a vast array of geological specimens.  Both teaching rooms are equipped with multimedia projectors and large desks.
