About Bethany School : Boarding & Pastoral Care
Boarders' Weekend Activities

A wide range of activities is organised for our boarders each weekend.  In this section we will try to give a brief resume of what has taken place each weekend, so that parents of current boarders can see what their children have been doing and so that prospective boarders and parents can get a feel for what happens at the weekends.

In June the boarders spent the day at the Biggin Hill Air Show.  The highlights of the show were a spectacular display by the Red Arrows and towards the end of the afternoon a tribute to the RAF war heroes featuring a Lancaster bomber, four Hurricanes and four Spitfires in mock combat with their German counterparts.  It was an excellent day and one which will certainly be repeated next year.

In May the circus came to Bethany in the form of a circus workshop.

The boarders had a great time mastering new skills.

The highlight of this weekend's programme (16th January) was a cake modelling course by expert Sue Barlett from Creative Cakecraft in Crowborough.  Eighteen boarders each made Winnie the Pooh and Eyore out of icing.  Their models were outstanding as you can see in the photos.

Pupils also enjoyed table tennis, working out in the gym and our new basketball team beat Bell-Bedgebury in a friendly match.  In the afternoon 24 boarders went to LaserQuest while some Food Technology students spent all day working on a Health and Safety course.  Thanks from all the boarders to the staff that ran the activities including Miss Nixon, Miss Rayner, Mr Simmons, Mr Sheppard-Burgess and Mrs Wood.
